Mona Foma has announced its 2017 dates along with two of its headline acts.
The Museum Of Old And New Art’s premier music festival will return to Hobart between January 18-22 in 2017.
Curated by one of our favourite honorary Australians, Violent Femme’s Brian Ritchie, the festival has announced tētēma and Puscifer as two of the artists for the Mona Main Stage as part of the festival’s ‘Weekend at Walshy’s’ on site at the museum grounds (Friday 20-Sunday 22 January).
The festival will feature the live world premiere of tētēma, a project made up of legendary hard rock musician Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk) and renowned Australian experimental composer and pianist Anthony Pateras.
Having successfully experimented with numerous varying projects in the past, Patton’s more experimental ventures have gained critical acclaim all around the world, and this most recent project is no exception. For their live premiere, they will be joined by Australian musicians Will Guthrie and Erkki Veltheim.
Joining tētēma the lineup is Puscifer, one of the numerous side-projects of Maynard James Keenan, best known as the frontman for Tool and A Perfect Circle. Having started as a comedy side-project in 1995, Puscifer evolved into a musical project in 2007.
After having finally brought his Puscifer shows to Australia in 2013 after years of requests, Keenan will return in 2017 to continue to celebrate the release of his third album under the guise, 2015’s Money Shot.
With the full lineup being released on October 12th, and given Mona Foma’s previous lineups, you can be certain that many more amazing artists will be added to the lineup.
