Promoters Live Nation cancelled Monster Magnet’s Australian tour which was set to kick off next Sunday September 11th.  It appears that the tour is about to be pulled, with suggestions that sales haven’t been too healthy.

The tour was announced at the start of July, and having only played Australia six months ago as part of the Soundwave Tour, they were set to return to play their 1995 magnum opus Dopes To Infinity in full.

The definitive album saw the band transcend the clutches of an adoring underground fan base and unleash it upon an unsuspecting mainstream audience with their behemoth riffs.  Featuring lead single Negasonic Teenage Warhead, the 1995 album created a soundtrack for a generation that was “sexy, dark, melodic, celebratory and, above all, huge”, according to Rolling Stone.

The official statement from Live Nation:

Due to several unforeseen factors beyond our control, we regret to advise that the Monster Magnet “Dopes To Infinity” tour has been cancelled.

A number of circumstances have conspired to form the perfect storm and we are disappointed that this planned tour has been a casualty. The Monster Magnet “Dopes” tour will visit Australia at a more appropriate time. We appreciate
your continued support.

Please note that all tickets purchased via credit card will be automatically refunded. Tickets purchased via Cash or Eftpos, will need to be returned to point of purchase in order to obtain a refund.
