Morrissey’s Canadian fans are set to wait even longer for the music legend to return to their country, with his first shows in almost 15 years being postponed overnight.

Back in September, Morrissey revealed that after 15 years of purposefully avoiding Canada, he was set to bring his live show to their shores once again.

“My decision to return to Canada after almost 15 years of protest against its savage and Neanderthal annual Baby Seal Kill is entirely because my stance was ultimately of no use and helped no one,” the former Smiths frontman revealed.

“My voice was drowned out by the merciless swing of spiked axes crushing the heads of babies. On my return to Canada I feel that I can be of more use by making sizeable donations to animal protection groups in each city that I play.”

However, with these long-awaited shows set to kick off on Sunday night, his fans in the Great White North have again been left waiting, with Moz forced to postpone these shows due to a touring accident.

“Due to a medical emergency stemming from an accident incurred while traveling in Europe, Morrissey will be forced to postpone his performances in Vancouver to October 14th and 15th, 2019,” Ticketmaster revealed over the weekend.

“Spirits are high and the artist is on the path to a swift recovery,” the statement continued. “Morrissey looks forward to making his long-awaited return to the city and wishes to deeply thank everyone for their patience.”

While the nature of this accident has not been revealed, it appears as though it not a life-threatening one, with Ticketmaster noting that the current tour is set to resume on April 26th.

Of course, as some fans are noting, news of Morrissey not playing a show is somewhat common, with one website noting that these Canadian shows bring his total of cancelled (or postponed) performances close to the 300 mark.

Morrissey last visited Australia back in 2016, with his Aussie audiences being ranked among some of his best for the year. The singer’s upcoming covers album, California Son, is set to be released on May 24th.
