Aussies already know that few can throw a musical party of mash-up proportions quite like Ballarat duo Yacht Club DJs, but now Americans will be able to experience the joys of the mash-up maestros as they’ve been handpicked by Mumford & Sons to join them on their upcoming Gentlemen Of The Road stopover tour.

Playing in the American towns of Troy, Guthrie, St. Augustine and Canada’s Simcoe, Yacht Club DJs are the only Australian act to be invited on the bill, which features Edward Sharped & The Magnetic Zeros, West Coast sister band HAIM, NYC post-punks The Walkmen, and British indie rockers The Vaccines, as they roll through the US this August/September

Yachtsters Gaz and Guy first wowed the Grammy winning British nu-folkies when they played as part of the line-up for Mumford & Sons’ ‘Camping Stopover’ mini-festival last year in the regional NSW town of Dugong last October.

Closing out a night that featured Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Willy Mason, and fellow countrymen Sarah Blasko, Matt Corby, and Husky, Yacht Club DJs impressed Mumford & Sons so much that they’ve invited the pair to join them as international support on the series of sold out shows as part of the Brits’ ongoing Gentlemen Of The Road series. “It ended with the Mumford guys dancing on stage with us, so we’re hoping the US shows will be just as good.” – Gaz Harrison, Yacht Club DJS

“At first, it was bit of an odd match to be asked by Mumford & Sons to do Gentleman of the Road in Dungog, but everyone was just up for a good time,” says Yacht Club co-conspirator Guy Chappell. “It’s one of the best festivals we have ever played, so we were stoked to be asked to do the US Stopovers as well.”

“We get to travel random locations and places you wouldn’t necessary go on tour,” Gaz Harrison adds. “Last time, in Dungog, it ended with the Mumford and Edward Sharpe guys dancing on stage with us, so we’re hoping the US shows will be just as good.”

Armed with their high-energy catalogue of mash-ups, Gaz and Guy are well-honed performers (and party-starters), having delivered memorable sets at major festivals including Splendour In The Grass, Parklife, Groovin’ The Moo, and Falls Festival, with their crowd-pleasing repertoire that spans everything from radio-friendly pop, delta blues, death metal, Disney songs, children’s TV themes, rock, hip-hop, jazz – you name it!

The duo’s most recent national trek, the Mayhem Tour, saw them playing to plenty of sold out audience across the country. One of their biggest headline tours yet, spurred on by the release of their latest mixtape, Find Me A Macchiato Pronto, which “literally has it all; from genre to era,” as our Tone Deaf reviewer glowed. And best of all, the Ballarat twosome have made it available for free right here – what gentlemen!
