A second round of artists have been added to the Paradise Music Festival 2013 lineup, featuring a killer list of young and emerging Australian talent to play across the three days and two nights of the event, as well as set times.

This year’s Paradise, taking place over the weekend of the 29th November to the 1st December, will take place at the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort near Marysville, with a host of over 40 acts headed to the picturesque location, nestled up in the regional alpine forest with views of the Victorian Alps and Great Dividing Range.

Laura Kewly of the Paradise Fest crew has programmed a stellar mix of some of the acts on the festival’s 2013 lineup to get everyone good and ready for the weekend.

I’lls – ‘Mine’s Here’ (Naysayer & Gilsun Remix)

Both I’lls and Naysayer & Gilsun feature on this year’s festival bill, and whilst there’s no doubt they are both talents in their own right, together they are something truly magical. The ambient sound of three-piece I’lls mixes perfectly with the sombre beats of Naysayer & Gilsun, and the result is one hell of a tasty tune. This is perfect “headphones music”.

Elizabeth Rose – ‘The Good Life’

‘The Good Life’ is the most recent track from electro-pop act Elizabeth Rose. It’s the kind of feel-good track that kick starts your weekend, with a dance floor ready beat and strong vocals. She’s had a killer 2013, winning accolades left, right and centre. But then, who can’t help but love Elizabeth? She’s Australia’s newest darling of smart pop, and we can’t wait to see what kind of set she brings to Paradise.

Client Liaison – ‘Feeling’

To truly experience Client Liaison you have to watch their music videos, and their newest track ‘Feeling’ is no exception.  For some, Client Liaison simply comes across as a tongue-in-cheek act, but there’s more to it than that. The synth solos, the shoulder pads, the brick phones – there’s no denying the 80s nostalgia flowing through their sound, but look deeper and you notice there’s a real affection in their songs too. They want to get the better of you, and tempt you to embrace melodramatic pop with arms wide open. Stop being such a snob when it comes to pop, just embrace it and admit you loved the 80s as much as the rest of us.

Friendships – ‘SSLOWW’

Friendships are a real favourite here at Paradise HQ and we’ve long been watching their work slowly grow and evolve. The track ‘SSLOWW’ is exceptional and is a complete transformation of Kylie Minogue’s 2003 song of the (kinda) same name.  Their remix takes the track from sweet pop to dark electronica, complete with an unexpectedly awesome drop and chanting vocals. Watching friendships live is a particular treat too, with one-half of the group – Misha – working on trippy artwork that is displayed via live projections. Friendships are definitely a “must-see” act at Paradise.

Oisima – ‘Everything About Her'(Feat. Annabel Watson)

Oisima has rightfully been getting a lot of love from critics lately. In fact, we think he should be granted the official title, “Bearded Beats Master” (it is a magnificent beard, after all). That aside, Oisima is creating some ridiculously good music, with every track bursting at the seams with intricate layers and delicate details. Everything About Her is no exception to this rule, with subtle chimes throughout and a featured breathy vocal track thanks to Annabel Watson. This song is a light and bright reminder of the Summer to come.

FORCES – ‘Overland (In My Mind)’

FORCES make the kind of industrial dance music that keeps you going until 3am. Seriously, this is the perfect soundtrack for sweaty late nights and sloppy, drunken pashes that only happen in the dark corners of nightclubs. Complete with chanting vocals and some seriously heavy bass, FORCES are like The Presets except… better?! Yeah. You don’t want to miss this.

Millions – ‘Nineteen’

There’s no denying the catchiness of ‘Nineteen’. The solid drumbeat and ringing guitars are typical of Millions, who consistently create music that is an irresistible combination of pop and garage-rock. Really it’s the kind of mix that should be wrong, and yet, it’s oh-so-right.

Leaks – ‘Often It’s You’

Freshly released, ‘Often It’s You’ is the brand new track from 19-year-old producer Leaks. Signed to Melbourne record label Zero Through Nine, Leaks is part of an exciting new batch of young musicians creating experimental electronic music. Really looking forward to him at Paradise, and in turn being astonished that someone so talented can be so young. Sigh.

Glass Towers – ‘HALCYON’

Glass Towers have been everywhere of late – there’s no missing them! From touring the country supporting some of the biggest acts around, to having a feature album on Triple J, Glass Towers have gone from strength to strength. The track ‘HALCYON’ typifies what the band is all about: sunny guitar pop. Glass Towers are really at their best live though, so don’t miss out on the chance to see them at Paradise.

Rat & Co. – ‘Fourth Sun’

Including members of the creative team behind Chet Faker, Rat & Co. has quickly emerged as another Melbourne band to watch. Rat & Co. make beautiful instrumental music that’s wonderfully atmospheric, with most of their tracks having a lush and ethereal sound. This track seems the perfect way to end our mixtape, as it really is the ideal soundtrack for our location: Lake Mountain. I can just see the sun setting over the dense forest of the Great Dividing Range now. Beautiful.
