It’s been a long time coming, but US Christian rock outfit NEEDTOBREATHE are finally on track to release a new album, announcing Out Of Body recently.
If you’ve been paying attention to the world of rock over the last two decades, the chances are pretty good you would’ve heard of NEEDTOBREATHE. Forming in California back in the late ’90s, the outfit’s first record appeared in 2006, with a number of well-received releases following soon after.
With their last album, 2016’s Hard Love, not only hitting the top end of the US charts, but also giving the group their first-ever appearance on the ARIA chart too. Now, after close to four years of waiting, NEEDTOBREATHE have now announced they’ll be releasing Out Of Body this August.
“The last record was a bit of a departure, sonically,” explains Bear Rinehart. “To a fan that’s been around for a long time, this feels like home.
“If you’re a fan of the Americana or the rock version of NEEDTOBREATHE, you’re going to be excited about this record. We’re really excited about this record. I think it has a lot to offer the world right now.”
Set to be released on August 28th, the group have dug deep for the new album, thematically focusing on childhood innocence, self-growth, reflection and the freedom of youth.
“We’ve experienced a lot of fresh inspiration,” adds Seth Bolt. “It’s been a season of learning. Bear didn’t hold anything back in terms of writing about life: all of the beautiful things and the most tragic things that have happened in the past four years. I’m really proud of the statement the record makes.”

To celebrate the upcoming release of the new record, the group have shared ‘Hang On’ as its lead single, with its themes helping fans to get through the uncertain times the world is facing.
“We got in the studio and recorded ‘Hang On’ together,” Bear explains. “During this pandemic, the message of hanging on is on people need to hear. We needed to hear it ourselves.”
NEEDTOBREATHE’s Out Of Body is set to be released on August 28th, with pre-orders and pre-saves available now.
