There’s a seriously exciting pair of events on the way for country and blues fans, as Crossroads in the Vines announces two new day festivals kicking off next year at the Hunter Valley’s Roche Estate – one for country fans, and one for blues lovers.
Crossroads Country in the Vines will be happening on March 24 with none other than multi-platinum ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ singer (and Miley dad) Billy Ray Cyrus leading the charge.
He’ll also be joined by some of Australia’s biggest country artists like Lee Kernaghan, Kasey Chambers, John Williamson, The McClymonts, Sara Storer, Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole and more, making for one of the best lineups you could ask for.
Billy Ray Cyrus spent 17 weeks straight at #1 with his iconic hit
If you’re more of a blues fan, however, then Crossroads Blues in the Vines will be bringing out a huge name in 7-time Grammy Award winner and U.S. blues legend Buddy Guy on February 10, with an assortment of local and international names joining him.
Ian Moss, Diesel, Russell Morris, Richie Kotzen (US), Larkin Poe (US), Ted Mulry Gang, Kevin Borich, Mia Dyson and more will be on the way, making for two pretty impeccably-curated lineups.
For his part, Billy Ray Cyrus has a fondness for Australia (and footy), and he’s looking forward to getting back next year.
“Back in 1993 was when I kicked off my world tour in March in Australia, so now 25 years later it just kinda felt like the right thing to do at the right time!” he says.
“I love the fans there. They love their music, they love their football, they love the arts. It’s a great country with great people and we love coming down there and playing!”
Buddy Guy is regarded as one of the greatest guitarists and bluesmen of all time
If you’re keen for a day of country and/or blues, The Roche Estate is within driving distance of Sydney and Newcastle, and has played host to everyone from Elton John to KD Lang in its life as a boutique festival venue.
Being smack-bang in the middle of one of the country’s best wine regions certainly doesn’t hurt when bringing together the food and drink offerings either, with Tempus Two and Meera Park Wines, The Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop, Oishii Japanese restaurant and more offering their wares.
Tickets will be on sale from 9am August 24 through Oztix, and you can also pick up pre-sale tickets on August 17 by registering at the website, so check out the full lineups and video below.
