A new live music venue is set to open in Brunswick, Melbourne on Sydney Rd. Formerly The Spot, new owners have done a full refurbishment of the venue now christened Phoenix Public House.

The press release reads:

Rising from the ashes, a team of creative minds has transformed an old space into a new, classy multi-purpose venue on the corner of Union Street and Sydney Road in the cultural heart of Brunswick. Phoenix Public House has opened its doors for eating, drinking and tunes.

With a sophisticated redesign at the hands of Godel Design & Marketing and Contrary, Phoenix Public House boasts a large front bar/dining area, an intimate Oasis Room and a huge 280+ capacity band room. Drawing inspiration from the original architecture, Phoenix Public House features art deco style and with a preference for repurposed materials. You’ll be tempted in by its warm lighting, vintage flourishes and continuing entertainment schedule, featuring the cream of Melbourne’s fresh music crop.

Band bookings will be managed by Contrary, who previously booked the Workers Club and Billboard The Venue, as well as currently booking The Grace Darling Hotel. The band room will host a diverse range of events, including international acts and local emerging acts. Bands begin playing at Phoenix on Thursday September 15 with a weekly residency from bizarre pop maestros Aleks & The Ramps.

An official launch party is scheduled for 30th September so jot it down in your dairies.
