Were you amongst the lucky few fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of sassy US pop rockers the Scissor Sisters during their Australian stopover earlier this year? Count yourself lucky (or possibly unlucky if you witnessed their disaster ridden set at Pyramid rock), because you may not see them again for quite some time…
Following the success of their latest 2012 release, Magic Hour, which was uniquely plugged by Queens Of The Stoneage mastermind Josh Homme, the high profile outfit have publicly announced their plans take an extended break as they took to the stage in the UK recently, with some members even admitting to working on solo project while they go on hiatus.
In a post-performance chat with Gigwise, the colourful disco-boppers indicated a looming end for band, with an announcement to a sell-out London crowd at the Roundhouse on Wednesday night. Eyebrows were raised by fans when lead vocalist Jake Shears told the crowd: “This will be the last time we will play in London for quite some time.”
Female vocalist Ana Matronic later went on to say that the London crowd “got us first and always get us best”, further fuelling the debate on the group’s future. The band were also adamant in announcing that they have no plans to work together in the near future.
However Matronic teased “don’t you worry, this isn’t the last you’ve heard of us,” in her post gig chat with Gigwise, further confusing fans on their immediate future plans. The strawberry blonde later revealed that she is also at the business end of completing work on a comic book project, while tweeting that her extra-curricular pursuits would not detract from getting the band back together at some point.
It's not goodbye. Just good night.

While co-frontman Jake Shears tweeted:
Thank you London for all your love. And don't worry, we're not going away forever. We'll be back before you know it. With bells on. Love u J

Further stirring the pot, lead guitarist Del Marquis also announced his plans to take on the world as a lone ranger, stating that he had already started working on a solo album; a possible indication that the axeman may have some spare time up his sleeve in coming months.
With no upcoming live shows locked in, fans will be eagerly awaiting any news on the next chapter in the Scissor Sisters journey.
