Rapper’s Home Raided BY SWAT Team As He’s Rapping

Teenage rapper Adequate Advocate, aka 19-year-old Josh Jackson, was recording video footage of himself rapping while SWAT police approached his apartment to arrest him on suspicion of threatening his roommate with a knife.

The YouTube video shows Jackson improvising rhymes about the impending arrest, “bring the motherfucking SWAT team, special weapons and tactics operation,” he raps. “I’m not a criminal, I’m political, and right…” the teen spits before a burst of light from a flashbang grenade illuminates the room and brings an abrupt end to his recording. The 19-year-old will face felony charges in Colorado court next week. No word as-yet if he plans to rap his defence live over webcam. (via NineMSN)

Offspring (The Band) Respond To Offspring (The TV Show) Fans

Spoiler Alert. Forthcoming Vans Waped Tour AU headliners The Offspring have a pretty good sense of humour. Double Spoiler Alert. Following the death of a major character on the Channel 10 medical drama series Offspring, upset fans took to social media to express their howling torrent of feelings over the death of a fictional character, except that many incorrectly @-tagged the Californian pop punk group in their distress. The resulting crossover between Aussie sitcom lovers and the guys who gave the world ‘Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)’ made for something far more entertaining than scripted deaths ever could. (via Pedestrian.TV)

Daft Punk Didn’t Play Colbert Report, Host Gets Lucky

So here’s the skinny, Daft Punk had planned to make an extremely rare appearance on TV as guests of US political satire program The Colbert Report. They were rumoured to perform ‘Get Lucky’ (maybe with Nile Rodgers & Pharrell, maybe not). They cancel at the 11th hour citing that appearing on Stehen Colbert’s popular TV show would be a breach of contract with MTV for a scheduled appearance at their Video Music Awards. So the Colbert Report host filled the coveted slot with a montage of him getting his boogie on to ‘Get Lucky’ with a raft of celebrity pals (including Hugh ‘House’ Laurie, Bryan ‘Breaking Bad’ Cranston and Matt Damon). A video that seemed too well organised for a last minute replacement, which has led some to believe that Daft Punk’s ‘cancellation’ was planned along (*conspiracy noise*). (via Pitchfork)

The Killers Team Up With M83

Imagine the glittery arena-rock pop of Las Vegas quartet The Killers blending with the gleaming arena-rock electro of French maverick M83. Well you don’t have to, as guitarist Dave Keuning reveals that he and the band have worked with M83’s Anthony Gonzalez on new material for their new album. In an interview with Radio.com conducted backstage at this year’s Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, Keuning says that the collaboration came about after their label Island Records recommended the M83 frontman to produce their next LP. “There was a mutual thing like, ‘Yeah we think he’s good. We’ll try him out… It’s something we finally agreed with our label on,” says Keuning. It’s not the first time the band have given their music a Gallic touch, maybe an M83-produced track’d sound a little like the Jacques Lu Cont take on ‘Mr. Brightside’? (via Radio.com)

Melbourne Supergroup To Turn NGV Into Recording Studio

The National Gallery Of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne will become a fully functioning recording studio for a month this September/October as a veritable supergroup called Batman Park will take over the space to write, record, and produce an EP and accompanying video clips. Part of the Wired For Melbourne Sound exhibition a collection of Melbourne musicians, led by Alex Badham (Aleks and the Ramps, Magic Hands), and Jess Cornelius (Teeth & Tongue), Evelyn Morris (Pikelet), Thomas Mendelovits (Milk Teddy), Lachlan Denton (Ocean Party) and Pascal Barbare. NGV Director Tony Ellwood says that the new recording venture will “explore the creativity that exists within the music scene and will provide an insight into this vibrant aspect of the cultural life of Melbourne.” Batman Park’s music will be released digitally and on limited edition cassette (hipsteriffic!) at the end of their tenure, while Rick Milovanovic (Twerps/Boomgates) will design album art.
