Aussie fans are already proud supporters of John Butler Trio, proven by placing their latest single ‘Only One’ at #87 on the Triple J Hottest 100, but now American audiences are getting a healthy dose of the roots-rock three-piece.

‘Only One’ has already cracked the USA Top 30 radio charts, and last night, the band appeared on that most lucrative US publicity platforms – late-night television, invited to perform the track on Conan O’Brien’s show.

A major boon for the band and the single, with the parent album Flesh & Blood, making its debut on the US Charts at a respectable #58 position.

Flesh & Blood, John Butler Trio’s sixth and latest LP, has also performed well in France, debuting at #29, and closer to home, at #32 in New Zealand. Meanwhile the record has sat at the penultimate #2 ARIA Album Charts for the first two weeks of its release, kept off the top spot only by INXS, whose album sales have enjoyed a major boost following the screening of TV mini-series, Never Tear Us Apart.

The album finds John Butler taking “a step off his social and political soapbox to sip wine at the altar of love,” according to our Tone Deaf reviewer, and is the last to feature long-term drummer Nicky Bomba (departing to focus on the Melbourne Ska Orchestra and his solo projects), with Ray Man Three’s Grant Gerathy taking up residence on the kit last October.

He’s already getting well-worn into the role, with John Butler Trio booked over 100 shows across the globe in 2014, including their third headlining visit to Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in June, as well as an extensive European tour and headlining a Summerstage show in New York the same month.

They’re also locked in for the epic Bonnaroo 2014 lineup, appearing at the high-profiled three-day US music festival alongside Aussie artists such as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Cut Copy, The Preatures, and Vance Joy.

Fittingly, Australian audiences will be the first to experience Flesh & Blood live, with John Butler Trio hitting the road through March and April for a national tour that kickstarts in Western Australia before snaking to every corner of the country, leading towards their appearance at this year’s Byron Bay Bluefest, where they are the top-billed Aussie act on the mammoth 25th Silver Anniversary lineup.
