The Temper Trap were unfortunately forced to can their headline appearance at Triple J’s ‘One Night Stand’ concert in Dalby, Queensland after torrential rains washed out the stage’s power and equipment.

Triple J reports that the free, all-ages event drew a crowd of 15,000 strong, their largest ever, as they set up a festival site in the regional town of Dalby outside Darling Downs. Scheduled to broadcast live on the station for over ten hours, the concert was instead prematurely cut short in the early evening as the heavy weather began to set in.

Things began well, opening with local Dalby act and Unearthed competition winners, Mace and the Motor. Matt Corby followed in the afternoon slot, followed by Stonefield in a pair of “wet but fun” sets. Hip hop star 360 followed with a set that lasted only twenty-five minutes after extreme weather made the stage conditions unsafe.

In a press release from the station, Triple J manager Chris Scaddan stated, “due to safety reasons 360’s set was postponed. After ten minutes it was clear the water wasn’t going to stop and the call was made by triple j and event production staff that the concert couldn’t continue safely.” Responding to disappointed fans, he added, “we were sorry to let down the people of Dalby after such a build up.”

A downpour of rain caused flooding and water damage to the front-of-house equipment and stage monitors, which affected not only 360’s performance, but the planned headline slot from the ARIA-chart topping The Temper Trap.

The group issued an apology to fans following the washout, saying “we were really disappointed when told we couldn’t go on stage at triple j’s One Night Stand for safety reasons. We were advised the amount of water had made the site unsafe for the crowd, working personnel and the bands.”

They also offered their thanks to fans who turned out for the event, “the crowd at Dalby was awesome and we were amped to get out there and play. Thanks to everyone who came and we hope to see you at a show soon.”

The Temper Trap are currently travelling the nation as part of a headline tour in support of their new self-titled sophomore record. The Temper Trap is currently sitting at #4 on the ARIA Albums Chart after it’s debut at the #1 slot.
