The details for BIGSOUND, widely regarded as the biggest and most important gathering of the Australian music industry, were first announced last May, with Bill Bragg, Amanda Palmer, Kasey Chambers, and Regurgitator just a few of the names leading the list of speakers and musicians set to appear over the three-day conference this September.

Complementing the flocks of industry talks, workshops, conferences, and panels is BIGSOUND Live, an enormous selection of band and artist showcases taht take over Brisbane’s renowned entertainment hub, Fortitude Valley, during the conference; while May’s announcement revealed a handful of the acts locked into appear from September 11 – 12 this year, that list just got a whole lot bigger.

Another 80 acts have joined the BIGSOUND Live 2013 lineup, presented by Oztix and taking place across 12 stages over 2 nights with performances from some of the world’s most exciting emerging acts. Leading the list are Melbourne rock heroes Kingswood, the super-sized Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Antipodes-via-South Africa beatmaker Jonti, former Powderfinger guitarist Darren Middleton, refined songstress Gossling, Blue King Brown’s Natalie Pa’apa’a, Canada’s Yukon Blonde, the crafted art-rock of The Trouble With Templeton, rising hip hop star Chance Waters, Regular John – and that’s just a selection. “The quality and quantity of applications for BIGSOUND increases each year and our second artist announce is truly mind-blowing.” – Graham Ashton, BIGSOUND

There’s also Eagle And The Worm, Tigertown, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Grey Ghost, Elizabeth Rose, Cub Scouts, Buchanan, Them Swoops, Jess Ribeiro and the Bone Collectors, Damn Terran, The Love Junkies, Money For Rope, Zeahorse, The Demon Parade, and many, many more.

They all join the previously announced bands that includes Xavier Rudd, Megan Washington, The John Steel Singers, Stonefield, Bleeding Knees Club, The Jungle Giants, Spit Syndicate, Dune Rats, Clubfeet, Thelma Plum, Citizen Kay, and Little Bastard. BIGSOUND organisers also promise that there’s another 24 artists still to be announced for the already heaving lineup.

“BIGSOUND has cemented its place as the week that Australia’s music industry come out to play and for anyone looking for reasons to join in the party, this list is a pretty good place to start,” said BIGSOUND Executive Programmer Graham Ashton in a statement issued today.

“The quality and quantity of applications for BIGSOUND increases each year and our second artist announce is truly mind-blowing. It’s wonderful to see the value the artist community places on showcasing at BIGSOUND. It’s just a shame that we’ve only got 120 spots because there are more artists than ever who are worthy to be part of the event,” he added.

BIGSOUND has a long history of being the place to see the hottest new artists. The likes of Flume, The Temper Trap, Kimbra, Seth Sentry, The Naked and Famous, Ball Park Music, Bertie Blackman, Emma Louise and Last Dinosaurs all became BIGSOUND alumni on their journeys to international success.

BIGSOUND full passes – which include entry to panel sessions, parties, and priority entry to all BIGSOUND Live events – are available now from the BIGSOUND website and disappearing quickly, while individual BIGSOUND Live passes to shows are on sale today at OzTix.
