No, don’t check your calendars. This isn’t April Fools. John Lennon’s tooth (yes, you’re reading that correctly) is being put up for auction in the UK on November 5th where they expect it will sell for over £10,000 no doubt to some totally creepy guy.

According to the BBC, the tooth was given by Lennon to his house keep Dot Jarlett who worked for him in the late 1960s telling her to give it her daughter “as a souvenir”. If that isn’t bizarre enough the Beatle allegedly pulled it out himself in the kitchen.

Dot’s son Barry Jarlett said in an interview “He was in the kitchen and he had this tooth which he had wrapped in a piece of paper. He said: ‘Dot will you dispose of this’ and then he said: ‘Or, as your daughter’s a Beatles fan, you can give to her as a souvenir’. It is something that we felt was very personal and my mum actually gave it to my sister who has kept it safe.”

It comes with an affidavit signed by Dot but we have to admit we’re still a little skeptical, not to mention totally put off that someone would actually spend good money on a rotting tooth from a dead rock star.

A spokesperson for the auction house says “This is the most wonderful and weird item that we have ever had for sale. It is a truly unique item and it is really difficult to put a value on it. We are expecting it to achieve at least £10,000 but it is not unknown for these items as rare as this to reach six figures.”

We’ll let you know what it ends up going for after the auction.
