Soundwave must know they are on to a good thing with their 2012 lineup. Defying the recent blood bath that has dogged the Australian festival market, especially arch-rival Big Day Out, their events sold out in record time in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

Tickets to each of the three events are selling for up to $250 a pop on eBay as scalpers have a field day with heavy metal and rock fans who are eager to see the star-studded lineup.

But fans who have reservations about buying from unscrupulous merchants on online auction sites appear to have been given a last minute reprieve with promoter AJ Maddah jumping on his favourite soapbox, Twitter, to announce to anxious fans that he’ll be releasing more tickets.

Fans in both Sydney and Brisbane can snatch up the extra tickets which will be made available via Oztix at 6pm on 24th January. Only a couple of hundred tickets will be released and it isn’t clear if Melbourne which is also sold out will be getting an extra release too.

The strong ticket sales didn’t deter organisers from continuing the pile acts onto the already sweltering lineup for 2012 with Bush, In Flames, The Black Dahlia Murder, Holy Grail, and more added as part of the third announcement. A second announcement of acts was made mid-October adding Bad Religion, Tonight Alive, Strung Out and more.

They’ll be joining the first announcement of bands which included System Of A Down, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson and more.
