Australia will see a Black Keys tour in October 2012 or at Big Day Out 2013 according to statements made by the band to Cherry Bar owner James Young when he caught up with the group after a recent concert in the United States.
Speaking from New York, Young caught up with Patrick and Dan after their concert at Madison Square Gardens in New York and told Triple M, “I had long words with Patrick and Dan [from The Black Keys] and they assured me that if they’re not here in October they will be here for the Big Day Out.”
Big Day Out 2013 is a good fit for the band, they were after all booked to play the festival in 2011 but were forced to pull out at the last minute due to exhaustion with representatives saying at the time “an arduous year of touring and promotion has drained the band and necessitated time off.”
There have also been rumours that The Black Keys might form part of the Splendour In The Grass 2012 lineup – either way it appears that Australian audiences will be treated to not only a tour but a few festival appearances too.
Whenever they tour it is sure to be one of the most anticipated concert events of the year. Since their last appearance down under The Black Keys have finally broken through to the mainstream with the runaway success of their latest album El Camino.
The record reached number three on the ARIA Charts and has gone platinum in Canada, New Zealand, and here in Australia, and gold in the United Kingdom and the United States.
