November’s Harvest Festival is drawing ever closer, and off the back of its strong international lineup that includes Beck, Sigur Ros, Grizzly Bear, Ben Folds Five, The Dandy Warhols – just to name a few – the music festival sold out in Melbourne before adding an extra date that allowed Foundation Members access to either of the dates.
Now it looks as if Harvest 2012 is close to selling out for its showing at Sydney’s Parramatta Park.
As the Harvest Facebook page points out, co-promoter Declan Forde was recently interviewed by The Parramatta Sun “about the soon to be sold out event in Sydney.”
Forde said to the paper that festival organisers were “very happy” about the decision to host Harvest, and its almighty lineup, at Parramatta Park.
“Mostly because of the beauty of the site itself,” said Forde. “The history of the park, with the Old Government House and other elements, give it a unique character and feel.”
Adding that, “we felt that once people had been out [to the site] once they would fall in love with the place and hopefully will build a sentimental attachment to it over the years,” hinting that Harvest is planning to use the grounds for future iterations. “The local authorities have been very helpful and supportive and we’re very appreciative of that.”
Harvest recently added a host of homegrown talent to the bill in the winners of the Triple J Unearthed competition that sees four special acts joining the likes of Ben Folds Five, Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane, Silversun Pickups, Santigold, Cake, Dexy’s Midnight Runners and many more.With pedigree like that, you best get on board and get your tickets before November rolls around; otherwise you may miss out
Melbourne’s two dates will see rove garage rock revivalists The Murlocs and buzzing sextet Lurch & Chief playing at Werribee Park, while Brisbane will be adding the moody drama of The Trouble Of Templeton to their bill. While Parramatta Park punters will get a dose of folk-rock with Tigertown, who have earned comparisons to classic Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac, with a dash of Swedish sisters First Aid Kit and Australia’s own Boy and Bear on their EP Before The Morning (which gets the Tone Deaf review here).
Those new additions come on top of the recently announced Arts lineup for Harvest 2012, featuring over 400 artists working on 80 acts and installations – from the playful to the ethereal, the thought provoking to the downright jaw-dropping. While the spate of sideshows seems to have been finalised as well, including Grizzly Bear, Beirut and The War On Drugs, on top of Dexy’s sideshows, a double slot between Santigold and Crazy P; as well as fellow musical cohorts Ben Folds Five and Cake, a co-headline show from Silversun Pickups & The Dandy Warhols – and of course Beck’s one-and-only sideshow.
With pedigree like that, you best get on board and get your tickets before November rolls around; otherwise you may miss out and have to put up with your friends’ tales of an epic day of music, arts, and the brilliance that was Beck’s live show for months on end…
