Following the earlier announcement for the 2012 Soundscape festival Lineup, even more artists have been adde to Tassie’s favourtite festival. Aston Shuffle DJs, Twinsy, Purple Sneaker DJs, Tyler Touche and triple J fave Lewi McKirdy have just been announced as the second round of bangin’ artists for the fifth, eagerly anticipated, Soundscape Festival.
Joining The Temper Trap, Missy Higgins, Bluejuice, Yacht Club DJ’s, Big Scary, Strange Talk, Scryptcha, Mitzi, The Cairos, The Mornings and Asta, this latest batch of acts will be entertaining music fans on Hobart’s waterfront mainstage, with several of the freshly announced artists also heading in for exclusive, just announced, sets in the Silent Disco, alongside some of Tassie’s hottest up and comers.
Undoubtedly the next wave of Australia’s emerging electronic elite, The Aston Shuffle DJs ascent to the top of the Australian dance music totem has been nothing short of startling. As well as hosting their weekly ‘Friday Night Shuffle’ on triple j, Ashton Shuffle DJs are still the reigning No.1 DJs after triumphing in Australia’s biggest DJ poll, the inthemix50, they’ve released their debut long-player Seventeen Past Midnight to critical acclaim (featuring “Your Love” the track Rolling Stone called “the best dance single to come out of Australia in a decade”), and they’ve proudly debuted their live show; a sensory altering and visual-heavy production that has fast redefined the traditional role of the DJ in Australia.
Hailing from the perpetually unsummery regional town of Ballafornia, Australia, the Pina Colada-swilling, feel-good, super-duo Twinsy are no strangers to the Australian music scene. Comprising Guy Chappell (Yacht Club DJs) and Michael Belsar (Hunting Grounds) the pair have steadily built a swirl of interest internationally while playing sold out tours and festival appearances with their other fore mentioned acts. Currently preparing for a tour with Brisbane indie rock band Last Dinosaurs, and having recently released a film clip for their first single Waterbombs, featuring Alex Wall from Bleeding Knees Club and vocals from his little cousin, they’re now ready to re-launch an EP.
