Canadian rock royalty Neil Young has a had quite the busy year. Aside from developing his new iPod killer, a streaming music player that re-focuses back onto the fidelity of the audio rather than the distribution, the 66-year-old has been back in the saddle with his famed backing band, Crazy Horse.
Touring and recording with the trio this year, they’ve already produced the rambling history lesson of Americana, while last week saw the release of Psychedelic Pill, a striking return to form that more than lives up to its name.
Now Australian audiences can revel in the news that they’ll be getting to hear both album’s material, as well as Mr. Young’s legendary back catalogue, next year as part of a national tour.
Young last visited our shores headlining the 2009 Big Day Out, but marks the first tour from him and Crazy Horse together since they were touring 2003’s lengthy concept album, Greendale. Neil Young, along with Crazy Horse bassist Billy Talbot, guitarist Frank ‘Poncho’ Sampedro, and drummer Ralph Molina, will be playing seven dates around Australia in each of the capital cities as well as a pair of winery appearances.
Still one of the live greats, Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s 2013 Australian Tour will no doubt be one not to miss.
Pre-sale tickets will be available to Frontier members on November 14 and 15, from 12pm until the allocation is exhausted. General public tickets will be on sale on November 19, 9am. Tickets via Ticketek.
