The Cat Empire have spent much of 2012 touring overseas, but now they are home making plenty of noise in the studio, writing and recording their new long player.

The new album is being recorded in Melbourne with producer Jan Skubiszewski and it heralds the same spirit which originally attracted a massive world-wide legion of fans to the band – music that is guaranteed to make even the rhythmically challenged dance and the orally challenged sing.

It is a return to the original anthemic party sound for The Cat Empire, whose energy and uniqueness has won over hearts and headphones across the globe.
The album will be released in May 2013, but so fans don’t have to wait that long to hear some new music, The Cat Empire will head out on the road in March 2013 to play the new songs – and some of the old favourites. They will play a series of intimate club shows, with limited tickets in Melbourne and Sydney, and on the bigger stages at Fremantle Arts Centre and WOMADelaide.

Touring with the band on this run is the fabulous band known as FLAP!, also from Melbourne.

Fans under 18 years will also have the chance to see the band in Sydney.
Brisbane fans have not been forgotten. Stay tuned for the announcement early in 2013 of the Brisbane warm-up shows…

Note from the band: “$1 from every tik sold for our Nov tour will go toward the cancer treatment costs of an amazing saxophonist and very special friend of ours (Dave Ades) who really needs our help to access the treatment he needs.”

It is expected The Cat Empire will release the first Australian single from the new album early in 2013, before embarking on another year-long worldwide tour, which kicks off in Australia in March, taking in festivals and headline shows throughout Canada, the USA, UK, Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and the Netherlands, where the bands career has continued to escalate.
