Sometimes, just sometimes, those music industry whispers and juicy rumours can turn out to be right on the money; and so it is, that as previously reported, The Boss is indeed planning a musical picnic at Hanging Rock.

That’s right Bruce Springsteen, compete with the E Street Band in tow, will be playing the famous geographical location in the Macedon Ranges, along with three very special arena-sized shows in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne for an Australian Tour in 2013.

The original unlikely, yet very accurate source was Painters and Dockers singer Paul Stewart, who said originally that Springsteen would be playing Hanging Rock for Easter 2013, followed by dates in Brisbane, Melbourne, and a Sydney show reportedly “locked in” for March, 2013 – tipping that Mushroom mogul and Frontier Touring boss Michael Gudinski would be presenting the shows, and Stewart was 100% correct.

The performance at Hanging Rock will take place on the Easter Saturday of the 30th March next year, echoing the Helpmann Award winning performance held by Leonard Cohen at the same majestic spot in 2010, followed by another by Rod Stewart in February 2011.

Additionally, Bruce Springsteen will be playing his first arena shows in the country since visiting as part of his 2003 world tour off the back of The Rising. Five albums, a change in the White House, and many, many rumours of a return Australian tour have gone by in those ten years, but now Springsteen fans can rejoice in the return of the American music legend.

Springsteen’s current tour, in support of this year’s Wrecking Ball, has been garnering rave reviews, and considering Springsteen and The E Street Band’s epic length live shows, that’s no small praise. Especially considering the marathon pacing it takes from the 63-year-old blue collar hero, and his talented six-piece ensemble – featuring Max Weinberg, Steven Van Zandt, Patti Scialfa, Garry Tallent, Roy Bittan, and Nils Lofgren.

Better start exercising your lung capacity to belt out those classic anthems, and brush up on that extensive back catalogue – this is happening.

Frontier Touring members will get pre-sale access at midday on Wednesday 12th December. General tickets are on sale the following Friday 14th December.
