Sugar Mountain, Melbourne’s boutique music and arts festival, will take over the Melbourne CBD next week an the whole town is already buzzing at the thought.

The 2013 festival will showcase a marvelous array of local and international creative talent, including musical performance by The Dirty Projectors, ESG, Hunx & His Punx, Woods, and many more.

The main event will be taking place at The Forum Theatre on Saturday 19 January 2012 and playing times for the notoriously cool festival have now been released and reveals that headliners The Dirty Projectors will be playing for a whopping 90 minutes.

Dirty Projectors frontman Dave Longstreth and his lovely musical cohorts are currently enjoying the critical success of their latest release, this year’s Swing Lo Magellan (which Longstreth handily broke down track-by-track for Tone Deaf) and are currently touring American then Europe before making their way to Australia.

Along with the stellar international acts come a number of great Aussie ones including the likes of one of the country’s most innovative guitar players and musical extremists, Kirin J Callinan, couple of our favourite acts with Google-proof band names: Lower Plenty and Boomgates, and Sydney’s Colarbones. As one half of the group, Marcus Whale told us in a recent interview, any opportunity to tour is a chance for the two – who usually compose via email – to be together.
