Following a successful year that saw the release of Leave Your Soul To Sciencethe Melbourne trio’s first album of new material in six years, Tone Deaf are excited to announce that Something For Kate are ready to embark on their first extensive Australian tour in more than half-a-decade this coming May and June.

The Star-Crossed Cities Tour will see Paul Dempsey, Stephanie Ashworth, and Clint Hyndman visiting each capital city, as well as heading to many of the regional areas and towns that have missed out on a show from the band in over 5 years, with the trio set to showcase their latest album, which our Tone Deaf reviewer called their bid to “reclaim national treasure status”.

Something For Kate will also be drawing from their healthy back catalogue, delivering a varied selection of their best and brightest numbers, and more than likely given their impressive live history, the odd special cover or two.

Upon its release in October 2012, Leave Your Soul To Science was hailed by fans and critics alike as Something For Kate’s finest work to date and entered the ARIA Album Chart at #5. A short tour of capital cities followed, with shows selling out in minutes and additional performances added to meet demand.

The Star-Crossed Cities Tour will mark the band’s first official dates for the new year following a number of whistle-stop shows last year, including a number of festival appearances at Queenscliff Music Festival’s 16th birthday, and an all-star Aussie lineup at Homebake 2012 at Sydney’s Domain.

Joining Something For Kate for their latest tour will be Melbourne’s rising talent, and Triple J Next Crop pick, Courntey Barnett, who’ll be delivering her grunge-tinged tales to appreciative crowds across the country. Following the release of her debut EP I’ve Got A Friend Called Emily Ferris, Barnett followed up with the brilliant single ‘History Eraser’ which was regarded by critics as one of the best singles of 2012.

With a long history of Something For Kate tours selling out at lightning speed, fans are advised to get in fast to secure their tickets for what will be a most memorable night of music spanning the career of one of Australia’s most revered and respected bands.
