Wil Wagner is keeping busy. The core songwriter of The Smith Street Band recently announced that the well-travelled band would be hitting the road this August for a national tour, as well as popping in to Melbourne’s The Reverence Hotel this June to help celebrate their 1st year anniversary.

The same month, Wil Wagner is going it alone, touring through June in support of his solo album Laika, released through Poison City Records earlier this year and available through the label’s website and Wil Wagner’s Bandcamp page.

After a hectic touring and recording schedule with The Smith Street Band, this has been Wagner’s first real chance to get to show off his solo effort around the country, performing with his trusty acoustic guitar in hand and joyously honest turn of phrase to demonstrate why he’s regularly hailed as one of the country’s best songwriters.

A message from the humble man himself reads: “Hello! For most weekends in June I’m gonna be doing some solo gigos! It’s a belated launch tour for Laika, the EP/album (it’s 8 songs, I don’t know what it’s supposed to be) I put out through Poison City Records at the start of the year!”

“I’ll have merch (hopefully shirts but who knows) and stuff,” he adds. “First solo shows in Perth as well! Mara Threat is gonna play a few of the shows as is Nick Van Breda! And other sweet people playing! Gonna be good shit!”
