The first bands of the Sound Summit 2013 Festival lineup have been announced as the MusicNSW-organised event moves to Sydney for the first time this year moving on from its regular home in Newcastle.

Showcasing Sound Summit’s reputation as the premier platform of innovative and independent music, this year the festival lineup features five international acts at the top of the bill along with an impressive selection of Australian bands, and will take place at various locations and venues around Sydney, including independent and community DIY spaces around Marrickville and Redfern.

Topping the Sound Summit 2013 Festival bill, taking place from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th of November is German experimental glitch pioneer Oval (DE), Detroit punk outfit Tyvek, British Casio-house conjurer Heatsick, technoise misfit Container, and Minneapolis DIY “mod-punkers” Real Numbers.

As always, there is an impressive Australian slew of acts: Ooga Boogas, Bushwalking, Marco Fusinato, Four Door, Angel Eyes, The Stevens, Jon Watts, Bare Grillz, Unity Floors, Cured Pink, Matthew Brown, Housewives and Exhaustion will all be performing as part of Sound Summit 2013.

Along with the first round of bands, a number of venues have also been confirmed, including The Red Rattler, the Marrickville Bowls Club, and 107 Projects with more venues expected to be announced in the coming weeks, along with a full artist and showcase announcement to follow in mid-September, before the full conference and workshop program announcement in October.

Sound Summit is a project of MusicNSW, and is proudly supported by ArtsNSW, Australia Council for the Arts, Goethe Institut, 2SER, Two Thousand, and
Repressed Records.
