A new Aussie music festival from promoters Life Is Noise is launching this December, using a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ model as it embarks on a unique “magical and weird musical voyage.”
Slanted And Enchanted is a new music festival that sees a lineup of international and local bands taking over two venues in Perth, with two separate events that feature their own unique lineups in two separate bills that combine rock, electronica, and genre-defying music that’s all in line with the new festival’s theme of discovery.
A number of the acts featured for Slanted And Enchanted Festival (named after Pavement’s influential 1992 debut album) are drawn from the upcoming Meredith Music Festival lineup, including rock iconoclasts Deerhunter, clasically-trained, electronically-delivered maestro Jon Hopkins, and outwardly proud ‘gaynster’ Le1f.
Deerhunter lead an evening of skewered indie rock, psych, pop, and noise at the Astor Theatre, along on the main stage with Canadian band Metz and Krautrock enthusiasts Cave (both making their Aussie debut), as well as Melbourne’s Fabulous Diamonds. Upstairs at the Cool Perth Nights Room a lineup featuring Sugarpuss, Runner, Cow Parade Cow, Mt Mountain and DJ jane Azzopardi will keep things rolling.
The second bill, headlined by Jon Hopkins and Le1f with Mess Kid, will bring an enchanting mix of alt hip-hop, glitch beats, experimental electronica to two rooms in The Bakery until late, provided by UK’s Kelpe, Mathas, Diger Rokwell and DJ sets from Rok Riley and Craig Hollywood.
Tickets are available for each venue’s unique lineup and limited tickets to both events are available at a reduced price. A bus to transfer to take punters from the Astor to The Bakery is also available to buy for just $5 in the presale. More details at lifeisnoise.com.
