The Riverboats Music Festival 2014 lineup has been announced with an impressive mix of Aussie favourites headed to the banks of the Murray River for the third annual Riverboats Music Festival.

Running from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th February, the Riverboats Music Festival 2014 lineup will provide the soundtrack for three laid-back days and three rocking nights in Echucha-Moama.

Leading the musical charge is the mighty sounds of The Cat Empire, followed closely by a number of Australian music legends – namely, Tim Finn, Ian Moss, Don Walker, and Something For Kate’s Paul Dempsey in solo mode.

Also on the Riverboats Music Festival 2014 lineup are The Basics (featuring Wally ‘Gotye’ De Backer on the drums), the spiralling sounds of Dan Kelly’s Dream Band, the talented folk of Wagons, NIDA-winning singer-songwriter Thelma Plum, folk-pop darlings Tinpan Orange, lung-belter Mojo Juju, the powerful pair of Sweet Jean, and the highly respected Liz Stringer.

Set amongst a stunning natural location with historic paddlesteamers meandering past all weekend, the Riverboats Music 2014 lineup will take to the amphitheatre stage from lunchtime until late each day, against the unique backdrop of Echuca-Momoa’s towering river red gums, grassy slopes, and historic riverside setting located in the picturesque Aquatic Reserve, located just two and a half hours north of Melbourne.

“With its single stage appropriately placed on a wooden stilted platform above a pool of the river, the festival flows in a single relaxed stream,” wrote our Tone Deaf reviewer of last year’s Riverboats Music Festival. “Just like the river, the setting and its many enticing rhythms exert a gentle pull that makes you very reluctant to plunge yourself back into the city. With these rhythms still echoing, it’s hard to imagine that this festival won’t continue to get better.”

The family friendly festival with a big heart is doing just that for its 2014 edition. The popular Riverboats Deluxe Ticket is back for one, offering festival-goers a unique opportunity to experience a two-hour river cruise aboard one of the grand old dames of the Murray, the paddlesteamer Pevensey. Accompanied by fine local catering and live music by Riverboats artist Mojo Juju, the cruise takes place on Saturday 15th February from 12 noon to 2 pm, returning just in time for the start of the festival’s Saturday lineup, all for just $160 (for adults, children $80).

With the announcement of the exceptional Riverboats Music Festival 2014 lineup and a three-day festival ticket of just $110, it’s sure to be one of the best ways to while away a weekend with friends and family this summer.
