The John Mayer Australian Tour 2014 has been announced and with the celebrated singer-songerwriter heading to Australia to headline the annual Byron Bay music festival, there’s now a series of headline sideshows to look forward to this coming Easter.

These dynamic shows will take place at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday 15th April, Tuesday 22nd April at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and Sydney’s Allphones Arena on Thursday 24th April.

Alongside his already confirmed major headline festival performances at West Coast Blues & Roots, the iconic Bluesfest in Byron Bay and Deni Blues & Roots Festival in Deniliquin, These shows will be Mayer’s first performances in Australia since his Battle Studies World Tour in April 2010.

The latest studio offering of Mayer’s, Paradise Valley, was released on Australian shores in late August and thrillingly debuted at #1 on the ARIA charts. The Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician produced Paradise Valley with longtime collaborator Don Was, who also co-produced Mayer’s #1 charting Gold-certified 2012 release Born and Raised, and has worked on albums for acts such as the Rolling Stones, B.B. King and Bonnie Raitt.

2013 has seen Mayer kick off his first tour in three years, just two months ago, with a 40-date world tour, marking his return to the live stage after the recurrence of a throat granuloma forced him to cancel his tour in support of Born and Raised and take an indefinite hiatus from performing. Mayer also performed alongside the likes of Stevie Wonder, Kings of Leon and Alicia Keys last month in New York as part of the Global Citizen Festival. The concert drew 60,000 people to Central Park’s Great Lawn with the aim of raising awareness and funds to end global extreme poverty by 2030.

Mayer is using the U.S. portion of his headline tour to heighten awareness of and raise funds for US military veterans suffering from the effects of post-traumatic stress. One dollar from each tour ticket sold in the U.S. will fund PTS-related programs created by Mayer and the Northern California Institute for Research and Education.

Joining Mayer on these headline dates will be Vermont rock outfit, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, making this their second tour of Australia following rave reviews after am unprecedented reception from their festival performances earlier this year at West Coast and Bluesfest. The release of their latest album The Lion The Beast The Beat sees Grace and the boys streamline their vintage signature sound, with a bunch of songs that are, just as the title suggests, powerful, pitch perfect stories.
