The hip hop contingent of the Laneway Festival 2014 lineup is teaming up for a massive triple-bill, with Danny Brown, Earl Sweatshirt, and Run The Jewels teaming up for Laneway Festival 2014 sideshows.

All three artists are playing exclusive sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney to complement their appearance at the indie boutique festival next February, taking over Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Palace Theatre for one night only.

Earl Sweatshirt’s debut solo album Doris charted upon its release earlier in 2012 thanksin part to his high-octane co-headline shows with fellow Odd Future member Tyler, The Creator. The album, flanked by the single ‘Hive’ was an instant success, building on the rise to prominence Earl and his OFWGKTA members have enjoyed as they continue to dominate and pave new paths for Hip Hop.

Danny Brown’s first appearances in Australia as part of Vivid Live were a sign of things to come. The Detroit MC’s breakthrough mixtape XXX, was one of the year’s best Hip Hop releases, charting high with critics and any ‘best of’ lists worth their salt. In 2013 and returning on Fool’s Gold, Brown’s Old has already racked up Feature CD status on Triple J and a number of community radio stations.

Run The Jewels consists of the duo of El-P and Killer Mike, backed by El-P’s fierce production and with the two super-emcees trading amazing verses on some mighty fine instrumentation. Their debut self-titled album was released as a free download by Brooklyn’s Fool’s Gold and has quickly become one of the underground sets of the year.

With each artist playing their own set, these Laneway sideshows are sure to satisfy eager fans keen for another slice of the action whilst bringing in a whole heap more of standalone fans not keen on the festival circuit.

Joining these international, taste-making hip hop elite on their Australian sideshows will be one of the country’s own emerging stars, the Canberra-bred rapper Citizen Kay.

Certainly the triple bill of the year, don’t miss Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown and Run The Jewels in these exclusive Laneway sideshows!
