The Vans Warped Tour 2013 lineup is expanding with the addition of more bands to the bill in select cities, the first of a series of lineup additions to the hardcore and punk festival.

Last month saw another addition of bands to the Warped Tour 2013 lineup, including international acts Millencolin and Reel Big Fish, along with local heroes like The Amity Affliction and Hands Like Houses, joining the already announced bill featuring The Offspring, Parkway Drive, and Simple Plan.

Now the festival lineup is set to expand again with a handful of Aussie artists in an announcement that’s touted to be the first of six, in which “3 of the best local acts will be catapulted onto each leg of the Vans Warped Tour,” according to a statement from festival organisers.

The opening Warped leg is the first to receive a lineup boost, with the first date of the tour at Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds on Friday 29th November getting a trio of extra bands.

Brisbane six-piece Aversions Crown lead the pack, unleashing their downtuned sonic chaos, no doubt delivering new material as well as selections from their 2011 debut album Servitude and recent release Overseer.

They’re joined on the bill by Take Us To Vegas, the Sunshine Coast-based quintet enjoying a rich year of touring, with the likes of Northlane, Senses Fail, and The Getaway Plan, following the release of their Bloodwolves EP.

Last but not least for the Brisbane leg of Warped Tour 2013 is D At Sea, the YouTube sensation and hardcore cover artist extraordinaire delivering his uniquely reworked renditions and critically acclaimed vocals to round out the Brisbane lineup.

The extra local acts for the rest of the Warped Tour – in Coffs Harbour, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, and Adelaide – will be announced in the coming days.

The news follows the second Warped Tour 2013 lineup announcement, which is likely to push the Melbourne leg into a sell-out. Following on from announcing a change of venue in Melbourne to avoid a clash with Stereosonic patrons, putting the event back in Birrarung Marr, Maddah reported that “just under 3,000″ tickets were left for the Melbourne Warped. “I really thought Sydney would sell out 1st,” tweeted outspoken promoter AJ Maddah.

Warped Tour attendees have also been offered the chance to jump the queues at the gates, while still feeling good about it, by dropping off a donation at the Warped entry points as part of the Warped Tour Food Drive.

The Vans Warped Tour 2013 lineup of ‘Athletes’ was also recently unveiled, bringing the world’s very best pro skateboarders and BMX riders to the punk and hardcore festival.

Skater legend Steve caballero, Australia’s own Renton Millar, and Californian Black Label Skateboards Pro, Omar Hassan will all be rocking the verts and half-pipes for the crowd. There’s also Neal Hendrix, 17 year old Pedro Barros, and even younger prodigies: 14-year-old Murilo Peres and 12-year-old Vi Kakinho.
