The Rolling Stones Australian Tour 2014 dates have been confirmed.

The news that one of rock’s longest-running institutions would be returning to Australia next March, for the grand re-opening of Adelaide Oval, was accompanied by news that more national concert dates from promoters Frontier Touring and AEG Live would be announced “in the next few weeks.”

Now here they are, with confirmation of another set of limited Rolling Stones concerts for Australian audiences in a string of special ‘One Night Only’ shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and – confirming the initial rumours – at Victoria’s iconic landmark: Hanging Rock.

“It’s been a life long ambition of mine to bring the legendary Stones back Down Under and I cannot say how excited I am about their 2014 tour,” said Frontier Touring boss Michael Gudinski. “With just one night only confirmed for each city plus a very special one-off concert at Hanging Rock, this tour will be talked about for decades to come.”

Gudinski’s Mushroom Group were recently given the green light for a new 5-year deal to host more concert events at Hanging Rock, with the Rolling Stones concert – on Saturday 30th March, 2014 – to follow in the vein of the sold-out and financially lucrative Springsteen Hanging Rock shows from earlier this year, joining a prestigious group that includes Leonard Cohen and Rod Stewart that have performed at the outdoor site. “It’s been a life long ambition of mine to bring the legendary Stones back Down Under and I cannot say how excited I am about their 2014 tour,” – Michael Gudinski

The Rolling Stones will also be the first band to play the new Adelaide Oval since its $500 million renovation, playing a sold-out concert to an audience of 70,000 people to christen the new arena. It will also be the band’s first show in the SA capital in over two decades, after the SA Government bumped in $450,000 of taxpayer money towards ensnaring the Stones for the gig (a move that has come under fire by the SA Opposition).

The Rolling Stones’ full Australian tour schedule – dubbed the ’14 On Fire Tour – will see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood bringing their musical legacy Down Under for the first time since the 2006 A Bigger Bang World Tour, and their seventh overall on our shores.

Tickets for all shows go on sale to the general public on Monday 16 December, with a pre-sale via frontiertouring.com/rollingstones from Monday 9th December. Additionally, a limited selection of “lucky dip” seats from each venue will also be available to purchase at a very special price of just $99 via www.rollingstones.com on Monday 16 December (from 9am local time), “ensuring that some of even the best tickets can be snapped up for a bargain by genuine fans,” tease promoters.

More great news for Stones diehards is that the band will be bringing guitarist Mick Taylor, a Stones member from 1969-1974, along for the ride as a special guest for the tour.

The ’14 On Fire Tour will also feature a grand stage design for the indoor arenas based on the band’s ubiquitous tongue and lips logo, with the limited ‘Tongue Pit’ GA tickets offering fans a 360-degree concert experience, as well as a ramp that extends into the crowd, along with all the usual arena rock effects and visual trimmings.

“Can’t wait to reconnect with all our friends in Australia & New Zealand,” said Mick Jagger of the tour news. “It’s been a while since we’ve played to you all, so we are looking forward to being back on stage & playing your favourite songs.”

Keith Richards added: “We all had such a ball this year and so we wanted to keep it going! The energy between the band is better than ever and we’re all looking forward to coming back Down Under. I can’t wait to get back on the stage with the boys”

With strictly ‘One Night Only’ in each location, tickets are expected to disappear in record time for The Rolling Stones ’14 On Fire Tour.
