The first official Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves shows have been announced.

Following on from Clutch announcing a February headline tour, more acts from the massive Soundwave 2014 lineup playing sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney have been revealed and in the festival’s going tradition sees a number of major acts teaming up for co-headline sideshows.

Metal guru Rob Zombie and nu-metal turned dubstep rockers Korn will be teaming up on stage to deliver a fierce show, while riff juggernauts Alter Bridge and funk-metal royalty Living Colour will join forces in their own massive Sidwaves shows. (UPDATE: Stone Temple Pilots and Placebo Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves have been announced.)

More official Soundwave 2014 sideshows are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, with festival organisers promise there is “HEAPS more great news rolling out today and all of next week.”

That includes the third Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement, which will be announced at 8pm AEDT tonight (Friday 17th February).

Following on from the public dispute between Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah and Sevendust, after the later cancelled on their festival appearance, the Soundwave 2014 lineup is set to grow again with the third lineup announce, which will include more international acts and beefing up the massive 60+ bill.

Rob Zombie & Korn Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves

A rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. As a musician, Rob Zombie has sold over 15 million albums worldwide to date. Hellbilly Deluxe and Hellbilly Deluxe 2 were the albums that established Zombie as a solo artist after the breakup of multi-platinum group White Zombie. Rob Zombie released his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor in April 2013 to worldwide critical acclaim!

Joining Rob Zombie will be the godfathers of nu-metal, Korn. They released the their 11th studio album, The Paradigm Shift, in October 2013, adding to their some 35 million album sales worldwide, two Grammy’s and countless sold out shows; they’ve come a long way since their iconic self-titled debut, and they haven’t stopped challenging themselves or heavy music.

The members of Korn built that kind of bond back in 1993 the first time that Jonathan Davis, James “Munky” Shaffer, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, and Brian “Head” Welch decided to make music as a unit. They shed blood, sweat, and tears in the studio and on stage, fashioning an undeniable, unsettling, and unique sound that would permanently alter the course of rock music!

Alter Bridge & Living Colour Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves

Alter Bridge have firmly placed themselves as one of the most routinely acclaimed and adored hard rock bands on the planet. With three brilliant albums already under their belt Alter Bridge has crafted one of the best rock records of recent time with Fortress, which sees frontman Myles Kennedy and guitarist Mark Tremonti both operating with intense ferocity.

Joining Alter Bridge for their 2014 Sidewaves will be the highly influential Living Colour.

In the late ’60s/early ’70s artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Sly & the Family Stone and Santana ruled the Earth. But by the 80’s, rock had become segregated and predictable until New York’s Living Colour helped break the status quo with their open-minded musical landscape that paved the way for future bands, like Rage Against The Machine. After disbanding in 1995 Grammy award winning, Living Colour returned in 2000 and in 2009 embarked on their most experimental release to date, The Chair In The Doorway. It may have taken a year and a half to make but it was definitely worth the wait.
