The third Soundwave 2014 Lineup announcement has landed, adding even more bands to the already huge 87-strong bill for the hard and heavy music festival.

Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah first indicated last November that a third round of acts was due, revealed at the same time that the likes of Mastodon, A Day To Remember, and more were added to the Soundwave 2014 lineup, including festival headliners Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold.

Following a pre-Christmas delay, visa issues with one Soundwave band, and a very public spat with Sevendust after they pulled out of the lineup, today’s first official 2014 Sidewaves announcements brought with it the confirmation of tonight’s lineup additions, just over a month away from the festival’s kick-off at Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds.

The biggest names in the new Soundwave 2014 lineup additions are industrial rock heavyweights Filter, and legenday Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, performing with an all-star band featuring Alice Cooper/Michael Jackson guitarist Orianthi Panagaris, promising to “get your lighters up in the air and prepare for the mother of all sing-alongs!”

Adelaide’s I Killed The Prom Queen also join the Soundwave 2014 lineup, and armed with a brand new album, promise to destroy the place.

Rounding out the list bands helping to beef the Soundwave 2014 ranks are The Ghost Inside, Authority Zero, DARKC3LL, The Defile, and The Danger Kids, bringing the total Soundwave tally to 95 bands.

Conspicuously absent from the third lineup announcement is Post-hardcore act Falling In Reverse, with Maddah previously stating “they’re confirmed but I won’t announce them till we have visas approved.”

Their absence from the third Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement means that frontman Ronnie Radke’s visa issues have grounded the band from joining the festival fun.

Two yet-to-be announced Aussie bands that were expected to make the cut are also missing from the announcement.

Namely, the award-winning thrash group King Parrot, all but confirmed in September, and self-described “Psychedelic Reggae Ska Doom Metal Punk Rock From Hell,” The Bennies. Though it’s likely they’ll be added to the Melbourne lineup as part of a series of local bills for each of Soundwave’s five major legs.

A number of artsits on the Soundwave 2014 lineup are also confirmed to play headline sideshows.

The list of bands playing Sidewaves in 2014 includes Stone Temple Pilots (with Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington), Placebo, and – in Soundwave tradition – two massive co-headline shows in Rob Zombie & Korn and Alter Bridge & Living Colour. (Full details here).
