Assuming the rumour mill is spinning in an accurate direction, the Splendour In The Grass 2014 lineup is shaping up to be quite the bill.

Following a number of acts having already strongly hinted at their place on the Aussie winter festival, while the reunited Outkast are rumoured to headline, yet another international artist has been added to the Splendour pool after confirming a forthcoming Australian visit.

Singer/model/actress Sky Ferreira has confirmed she’ll be making her debut trip Down Under later this year in an interview with Triple J. “I’ve never been to Australia before,” the 21-year-old Californian native told Drive host Lindsey ‘The Doctor’ McDougall yesterday.

“I’m definitely coming in July for a festival, I think. I’m not quite sure [of the exact date], but it’s in my summer,” says Ferreira. The American summer is of course the Australian winter, and July is usually the spot reserved on the live music calendar for Splendour In The Grass, pegging the singer to bring her live show to the Byron Bay event.

Known for her string of feature singles, including ‘You’re Not The One’ and ‘Everything Is Embarassing’ (co-written with Dev ‘Blood Orange’ Hynes), Sky Ferreira released her debut album Night Time, My Time last October. “I’m definitely coming in July for a festival… it’s in my summer.”

Ferreira also made headlines late last year outside of her music when she and her boyfriend, DIIV frontman Zachary Cole Smith – whose band pulled out of the current Big Day Out tour “to focus on recording a new LP” – were involved in a high-profile drug bust.

After the singer-guitarist was arrested for possession of a “plastic bag containing 42 decks of heroin” and driving with a stolen license plate, Ferreira – who was also charged with possession of ecstasy and resisting arrest – spoke out about the arrest, claiming New York Police “were out to kind of like fuck with us.”

Other artists expected for the Splendour In The Grass 2014 lineup include Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow and British electro trio London Grammar, who have both just concluded Australian tours and spoken about very likely returns for the winter music festival.

Both acts’ whistle-stop tours were also presented by Splendour promoters Secret Sounds, which also puts Mikhael Paskalev – a new signee for associated Brisbane label Dew Process – up as another Splendour In The Grass 2014 contender following his forthcoming tour of Australian in March.

Meanwhile, reunited hip hop duo Outkast are rumoured to be headlining Splendour In The Grass 2014. Big Boi and André 3000 have confirmed they’ll be the “marquee act at over 40 festivals around the world” as part of a worldwide comeback tour which already has them locked in for US festivals Coachella and Firefly Music Festival (which both feature a bunch of Aussie bands).
