Future Islands Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows have been announced.

Already headed to Australia as part of the 80+ strong lineup of the three-day music festival this July, where Tone Deaf picked Future Islands as one of 17 acts you simply don’t want to miss, and following on from this morning’s huge list of Splendour 2014 sideshow announcements, Future Islands are now confirmed to perform two special sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney.

The band’s forthcoming Splendour appearance comes after what has been a breakout year for the Baltimore-based trio. 2014 has seen Samuel T. Herring (vocals), William Cashion (bass & guitars) and Gerrit Welmers (keyboards & programming) riding a monster wave of success over the release of fourth album Singles.

Singles is the band’s fourth full-length album, following On The Water (Thrill Jockey, 2011), which garnered a Best New Track nod from Pitchfork for the song ‘Balance’, In Evening Air (Thrill Jockey, 2010) and Wave Like Home (Upset The Rhythm, 2008).

Released in March via new label partner 4AD to much applause, Singles also saw Future Islands gain huge exposure for their riveting performance of ‘Seasons (Waiting On You)’ on The Late Show with David Letterman, which swiftly went viral (watch below).

This is clearly a band on the rise, don’t miss your chance to catch their evocative live show this July.
