Despite the public backlash against the cancellation of Soundwave Revolution, which was set to begin next month, the Soundwave Festival has begun their usual drip feed of punk, metal and emo bands for their 2012 event which they assure fans will go off without a hitch.

According to the usual maelstrom of Twitter comments from organiser AJ Maddah and various questions posed to him on his Twitter page and in Soundwave forum discussions, it appears that it is likely that fans will see sets from Trivium and CKY. Trivium’s bassist Paolo Grigoletto told metal website Sludge Factory recently that they hoped to be back in Australia in 2012 to play Soundwave, saying  “I’m pretty sure we’ll come around, maybe Soundwave.  I would assume that would be the tour we would do next.  We definitely want to do it so if AJ (Maddah – Soundwave Festival head honcho) wants us on it, we’re there.”

Maddah has since confirmed on Twitter that if Trivium want to play they’ll be more than welcome. Other bands to reveal their place on the line up on Twitter include the UK’s The Smoking Hearts as well as Texans Forever The Sickest Kids. Maddah has declared that Devin Townsend and Madina Lake, originally scheduled for Soundwave Revolution, will skip the Soundwave ‘Mini-Fests’ and play at the Soundwave 2012 event.
