Looks like the cat is out of the bag, with Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan confirming the band will be performing at next years Big Day Out.

Probably the worst kept secret in music, first reported by Nui Te Koha back in August, Meighan opened up in an interview with Adelaide streetpress Rip It Up today saying “We’re doing the Big Day Out and I think we’re second before the headliners, which is amazing. I love it, man. We’re not on at 2.30pm in the fucking afternoon, which was horrendous.”

Perhaps prophetically, back in 2010 Meighan said in an interview with the same streetmag that “the heat almost killed me, but the shows were great and the crowds were great. The heat was horrific and like being put in an oven, but I think the festival’s amazing. The heat was a bastard. It was a great festival and we really enjoyed it, but when we come back, we won’t be on at two in the afternoon!”

Kasabian could join other rumoured acts such as Cake, Radiohead, Odd Future, Architecture In Helsinki, Karnivool, The Decemberists, and Florence and the Machine. This year has seen many more rumour merchants than in previous years, and already we’re starting to see that perhaps they may be just opportunists rather than Nostradamus with many predictions proving to be untrue.

So Nui, got any other suggestions for us?
