The Sunday Herald-Sun’s intrepid music reporter Nui Te Koha has told Triple M listeners this morning that Kasabian are locked in to return to Australia in January to play the Big Day Out.

Having played the festival back in 2010, the band are set to return soon after their fleeting visit to play a one off credit card company gig in Melbourne in October. This addition to the bill will – if Te Koha and his inside info is correct – see them joining Prince, Blink 182 and Queens of the Stone Age on the bill.

The Big Day Out’s posters are set to go to the printers, we hear, so fans can expect an announcement very soon. Whether promoters can afford the massive wads of cash being demanded by Eminem’s managers, however, is another story; with rumours of a million dollars per show being thrown around.
