Melbourne singer-songwriter Nick Batterham is one of the country’s most storied artists, being a mainplayer in legendary acts such as Cordrazine, The Earthmen, and Blindside since the early ’90s.

His solo material is no less ambitious than the aforementioned bands, with big-hearted, yet spiky lyrics and beautiful melodies permeating his five studio albums.

There’s a certain sadness to Batterham’s best songs, and this is certainly true of the title track to his fifth solo album, Golden Boy: a tender waltz that bodes very well for the rest of the album.

Check out the clip below, and you like what you hear, pre-order the CD or vinyl here. (Grab his other records while you’re at it – they’re all gems.)

Golden Boy is out Wednesday April 4, and will be launched Saturday May 5 at Wesley Anne in Northcote.
