Following widespread outrage, Nick Cannon has shared a powerful spoken-word piece inspired by the actions and outcomes surrounding the death of 46-year-old George Floyd.

This weekend saw mass protests, both violent and peaceful, break out across the United States following the death of an African-American man named George Floyd, who was arrested by police after being accused of using a suspected counterfeit $20 bill, then held to the ground with the officers knee in the crook of his neck, while Floyd repeatedly gasped out, “I can’t breathe.”

While the officer who killed Floyd has been arrested and charged both with third-degree murder and manslaughter, people around the globe share in the outrage of this incident and have incited riots, started protests, and have called for actions.

Many musicians are using their public image to take a stand for not only George Floyd, but take action against the racism that still widely exists in the world.

While some artists and musicians call for an industry black out, and use their social media platforms to stand in solidarity, multi-talent Nick Cannon has shared a heartbreaking, spoken-word piece channeling his frustration in the events that are still unfolding.

Titled ‘I Can’t Breathe… Again!’, Canon appears wearing a mask around his neck, while donned in a black hoodie scrolled with the words, “Everything Hurts.”

During the emotional three minute and 33 second video, Cannon makes several statements that shine as beacons of reason throughout this whole devastating ordeal, opening with “Our voices haves been quarantined, COVID-19.”

“Hands up, don’t shoot, but now you’re knees on my neck stopping me, from occupying oxygen that God obviously brought for me, for I am his offspring, his true seed, muthafucka get off of me! Please! I cant breathe! Please, somebody call the police on the police! ‘Cause I can’t breathe ….again!”

Throughout the video, we’re shown several clips from the ongoing riots that have filtered through the streets of Minneapolis, with interludes of Cannon pressed to the ground repeatedly saying, “I can’t breathe” just as Floyd did during the altercation that occurred on Monday, May 25th.
