It’s hardly been two years since Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds released their latest album, but they’re already working on their next one, it seems.

Back in September of 2016, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds released the devastating Skeleton Tree. Inspired largely by the death of Cave’s son, the record was a deeply personal affair that dealt with themes of loss and grief, all whilst utilising the group’s iconic sound to deliver an astounding selection of tracks.

Following a global tour, which saw the group perform a series of stunning concerts around the globe, it’s been revealed that the group are working on their next record in the US.

Taking to her blog recently, Nick Cave’s wife Susie Bick revealed that she has been bedridden with “an autumn flu”, and been left to fend for herself while Cave is off recording a new album.

“The husband almost immediately drops what he is doing and looks after me,” she explained. “He understands that we grievers are vulnerable when sick or when tired and need to be brought cups of ginger tea.”

“Unfortunately, he is not here,” she continued. “He is in LA making a new record. Some of his songs reveal themselves at night in his fever dreams. They are his Fever Songs. What lovely jobs we have.”

While it’s not clear what the new Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds record will sound like, this will however be the first album in many years without longtime pianist Conway Savage on the team, following his passing earlier this month.

Although Conway Savage was not credited on the last record from the group, his presence as part of the Bad Seeds will be noted in the band’s upcoming live Live In Copenhagen EP, which will be released later this month.

Incidentally, this announcement also comes just one day after Marianna Faithfull premiered her new song, ‘The Gypsy Faerie Queen’, which was co-written by, and features vocal contributions from, Nick Cave.

At this stage, there’s no word as to when the new Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds record will be released, but we’re sure it’ll be another triumphant entry in an already amazing discography.
