Let’s face it, there probably aren’t too many 10-year-olds out there who are into the dark, gloomy and eccentric sounds of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

In a recent post on Nick Cave’s blog, The Red Hand Files, the acclaimed muso has shared his appreciation for one lucky young fan by the name of Ptolemy, penning him personal letter.

The young fan asked Cave, how listening to his music will have an impact on his life, to which Cave responded in an extremely philosophical and thought-provoking way, as you’d imagine.

In the letter entitled, “Before I Received the Secret Knowledge”, Cave said:

“This secret knowledge you have is a strength that lives only inside certain people. It is a strength that will inspire you to do wondrous things – like write stories, or draw pictures, or build rockets that fly to Mars.

It will give you the courage to take on anything that the world might put in front of you. It’s a wild power that can be of untold value to the world. Your name, Ptolemy, is a warrior’s name. A boy full of inspiration with a warrior’s name! The world is waiting for you. Blow ‘em away, kid.”
