Nine Inch Nails are spending 2020 working on new music, with the view to touring in 2021. Frontman Trent Reznor revealed his plans for Nine Inch Nails’ future in a lengthy Twitter post.
“I was just reminded today marks the two year anniversary of when we made you show up in person for the Cold and Black and Infinite tour. Strange to think about with the world the way it is now,” he wrote.
Reznor revealed that Nine Inch Nails planned on touring North America in September and October of this year. However, they cancelled their plans in compliance with current venue restrictions. French singer-songwriter, Jehnny Beth, was set to support Reznor’s group on their tour.
“I suppose I can let you know we HAD a tour booked this fall that continued & expanded Cold & Black & Infinite,” he continued, “we were excited. I’m bumming myself out right now.”
It looks like Reznor will continue to work on film projects as well as Nine Inch Nails material during the coronavirus pandemic. Reznor has co-written the scores for a number of films, most notably those directed by David Fincher, including The Social Network and Gone Girl.
“The current plan is to finish up some scoring projects, work on my limited patience skills, deep dive into new NIN material, and hopefully be playing music live for you in 2021,” he said.
Nine Inch Nails have already released two albums in 2020. Reznor’s beloved rock project released Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts in tandem on March 26th. The albums received generally favourable reviews from critics and fnas.

There is no word yet on whether Reznor plans to take NIN overseas in 2021. The band last visited Australia in 2014, performing a string of dates with Queens Of The Stone Age.
