Noel Gallagher has unflatteringly commented yet again on Harry Styles and the former One Direction star’s musical ability.

In a new interview with the Daily Star (as per Yahoo!), the Oasis icon lambasted former X Factor contestants such as Styles for not working as hard as “real musicians.”

“The X Factor is a TV show, it’s got nothing to do with music, it’s got nothing to do with music whatsoever, and anything that has come from that, that’s got nothing to do with music,” Gallagher said.

He then aimed at Styles personally. “You’re not telling me Harry Styles is currently in a room somewhere writing a song,” he chided. “With any joy, he’ll be surrounded by a lot of girls.”

Gallagher continued: “I can assure you he’s not got an acoustic guitar out trying to write a middle eight for something.”

It’s not the first time Gallagher has had Styles in his firing line. Back in 2017, he insisted that his cat could have written ‘Sign of the Times’ rather quickly.

“People of my age have let themselves go, they’re fat, balding idiots with fading tattoos,” he said. “They sit in their garage and write shite like ‘Sign of the Times’ for Harry Styles. Which, quite frankly, my cat could have written in about 10 minutes!”

Styles probably isn’t paying too much attention to what Noel Gallagher is saying though: his new single ‘As It Was’ has been a colossal success, becoming the most-streamed song in the U.S. in a single day on Saturday, April 2nd.

In a positive review, Rolling Stone‘s Rob Sheffield called ‘As It Was’ “both a straight-from-the-heart cry and an irresistible dance-floor challenge.”

The track is the first taste of Styles’ upcoming third studio album Harry’s House, slated for release on May 20th. In case Gallagher is curious, Styles is credited as the co-writer of ‘As It Was’, alongside the track’s producers Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson.
