The lead singer of up and coming British synth pop band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool jumped to his death on the weekend, shortly after playing at a Belgian Rock Festival. Charles Haddon climbed up a telecommunications tower by the festival grounds and leapt to his death shortly after playing a set. He was pronounced dead late on Friday night, with authorities treating the 22 year old’s death as suicide.
”After performing with his band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, singer Charles Haddon decided to take his own life,” Pukkelpop Festival organisers said in statement. ”Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends.” Ou Est Le Swimming Pool were scheduled to play the Parklife Festival in Australia in October.
It was the second tragedy to strike the festival, with Michael Been, front man of American band The Call suffering a fatal heart attack while doing sound for his son’s band. Been was the father of Robert Been, bass player of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
