The OutsideIn 2014 lineup has been announced. Following on from teasing festival-goers with the tantalising promise that this year’s instalment would be “the biggest lineup yet”, the organisers of the Aussie boutique dance festival have finally dropped their hotly-anticipated roster for 2014 – and cutting straight to the spoilers, it’s an absolute killer.
Headlining will be arly 90s west coast hip hop group The Pharcyde, Australian electronic multi-instrumentalist Seekae, acclaimed German house producer Pantha Du Prince, and US producer pair Giraffage. Also on the international front is US chillwave master Giraffage, UK garage producer Wookie, Swede sound shaper HNNY, as well as Four Tet collaborator Rome Future, Jubilee, and DJ Spinn.
The bill also features some of our other favourite Australians from the electronic-dance sphere, including 80s revivalists Client Liaison, hip hop synth wizard Fishing, boiler room set specialist Tornado Wallace, the talented Guerre, who is also part of Black Vanilla (alongside Collarbones’ Marcus Whale and Marseilles’ Jareed Beeler), as well as Retiree, Sui Chen, Preacha, Andy Webb, Moriarty, and Ariane. But that’s not all, as well as confirming their new venue – Sydney’s Manning Bar – organisers Astral People have confirmed that there will be another headline act in a second lineup announcement closer to the event, taking place in November.
OutsideIn debuted in 2012 to a sold out Factory Theatre in Sydney’s Marrickville, and hosting an ensemble of stellar international and local heroes, it was the standout event of Sydney’s ever-evolving festival circuit (and even a favourite of Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke who was spotted amongst the crowd).
Safe to say, it ultimately won FBi Radio’s coveted SMAC Award for Best Music Event of 2012, not to mention a permanent place in our mental festival calendars.
Last year’s sophomore edition saw the growing on the success of their debut, bringing in an even bigger lineup featuring the likes Freddie Gibbs, BadBadNotGood, Andras Fox and Oscar Key Sung. Now, continuing their own tradition, the 2014 OutsideIn looks to get even better.
