The Papa Vs Pretty Australian Tour 2013 has been announced following news that the ARIA-nominated Sydney band have details of a new studio album.
Now a four-piece, thanks to the addition of Luke Liang on guitar and keyboards, the members of Papa Vs Pretty – Thomas Rawle, Angus Gardiner, and Tom Myers – entered a strange space of carpet-covered walls, metal boxes, swathes of buttons, cords, leads, and blinking lights – emerging weeks later, blinking from the darkness, with a new full-length release in hand.
White Deer Park is the result of what exactly happened within the hallowed walls of the recording studio. Due for release in early 2014, the band’s sophomore album was produced by Dave Trumfio (Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Grandaddy), recorded at Studios 301 in Sydney and Forgotten Valley Studios, and mixed at Kingsize Sound Labs in Los Angeles; White Deer Park is the follow up to their critically acclaimed, ARIA award nominated debut album from 2011, United In Isolation.
The first single from White Deer Park is ‘My Life Is Yours’, a soaring song of cascading melodies – which caps off an album that represents the cream skimmed from the top of year’s worth of experimentation. A video teaser for the single gives viewers a hint of what’s to come with an audio track featuring the melodramatic strings from the single.
To commemorate its release, the four-piece are playing two special headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne, at the Oxford Art Factory and Howler respectively, to give their fans a taste of White Deer Park as well as a selection of tunes that converted their faithful followers to being with.
