Byron Bay’s Parcels have been the talk of the electro world in recent years, and now they’ve teamed up with another high-profile name for their latest music video.
Forming in New South Wales a few years ago, Parcels have been based Berlin for some time now, where they’ve been rubbing shoulders with the greats. Signing to the iconic Kitsuné label, the band made headlines last year when it was revealed that their single ‘Overnight’ was produced by none other than French house legends Daft Punk.
Now, with the group getting having just released their debut album last week, they’ve gone and dropped a brand new music video featuring one big-name actor.
After being teased across social media last week, US actress Milla Jovovich was confirmed to be appearing in the group’s new clip after an official trailer dropped a few days back.
Looking more like a horror movie than a film clip, Milla Jovovich’s acting skills have clearly come in handy for this one, with the group’s video serving as an homage to the American slasher genre.
“[It’s] a genre which is fascinating in its traditionalism and strict maintenance of its classic tropes with each new rendition,” the band explained. “The masks, the kitchen knife, the home invasion and of course the final girl – which in our case got to be Milla, the iconic queen of horror herself.”
“We met Milla at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year when she waltzed in and absolutely tore up the dance floor at a tiny show we were playing, admitting to us afterwards she was a fan.”
“After bonding over a shared love of horror movies, we showed her an idea we already had for a slasher music video and she put us in contact with a talented director friend of hers, Ben,” they continued. “We developed an idea of Milla being this darkly obsessive Parcels fan in a strained marriage and where this could go in a slasher movie.”
“Before we knew it, we were in a rented villa in Beverly Hills with bright blue glitter caked thick on our faces working with a real Hollywood film crew until the sun rose. It was truly mind blowing and so much fun, just like any good horror film should be.”
Check out the clip below, and be sure to catch Parcels when they return home for a brief tour early next year!
