Peking Duk are one week out from finally releasing their debut album Paradise, and they’ve squeezed in one last single before it arrives.
“Can’t Fit In” sees the Canberra duo link up with Atlanta rap icon Killer Mike, Montreal artist Nate Husser, and Maryland’s Kingstarlight for a collaboration that pulls together the wide-ranging sounds at the heart of the record.
Due out Friday, August 14th, Paradise will feature a seriously stacked list of guests, with Peking Duk also unveiling the album’s full track list today.
Peking Duk’s Adam Hyde said working with “the G.O.A.T.” Killer Mike was an honour for the pair.
“Nate Husser was also instrumental to the whole album within itself, even informing the idea of Paradise,” he added. “‘Can’t Fit In’ is a really fun number that is an homage to everything we came up on — record labels like Thomas Bangalter’s Roulé and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s Crydamoure.
“We’re so happy to be able to get this out there now. It’s a real joyous number with also a message — if you don’t give a fuck, you’re free.”
Husser said the duo’s energy helped shape his contribution to the track.

“I was going through some stuff at the time of recording these tracks, but the vibes of the Peking Duk guys are so positive and on the high that I wouldn’t help but get on their level,” he said. “They brought the vibes up outta me for this.”
Peking Duk conceived Paradise as a pirate ship, with its featured artists forming a carefully assembled crew. The duo have already previewed the album through singles “Thrills” with Rico Nasty, “Forever” with Phantogram, “Do Your Best” with Kah-Lo, and most recent release “Let Go” with Matt Corby.
Alongside “Can’t Fit In”, the newly-revealed track list includes appearances from FEYI, Poe Leos, and Royal & the Serpent, as well as a surprise contribution from Australian acting legend Jack Thompson.
For Peking Duk’s Reuben Styles, the album’s expansive guest list was central to the experience of making it.
“There wasn’t really a single session that wasn’t insanely fun to work on,” Styles said. “It was the funnest time and funnest process making this record — and it’s because of the people we surrounded ourselves with. They brought the fun vibes and put us into that mindset.”
Paradise is out Friday, August 14th, and is available to pre-save now. Peking Duk will celebrate the album’s release with a series of launch parties in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra next week, with a national tour to follow from September until November.
