The “daring and unforgettable, diverse and enriching, innovative and profound” lineup for the 2015 instalment of the Perth International Arts Festival has been announced, confirming another diverse selection for their annual contemporary music program, including Sinead O’Connor, Rufus Wainwright, London Grammar, Spoon, and more.
Delivering fans a quintessentially Western Australian experience, over 1,000 of the world’s most talented artists in a diverse range of disciplines and genres will descend on Perth as the 63rd Perth Festival spills across unique venues and glorious outdoor spaces, with an expected attendance of more than one million people from around the country.
“No two Festival journeys will be the same and our hope is that your travels through this Festival will include experiences both intimate and epic. Experiences that whet the appetite and stimulate all five senses,” said Director Jonathan Holloway.
“Moments that allow us to remember something we all knew as children – that the map is not the territory, that the best discoveries are made by straying from the path or committing to a fantastic voyage.”
As part of that fantastic voyage, Perth will be rocked over 24 nights by an eclectic selection of world-class artists, including Irish rock hero Sinead O’Connor, beloved singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, UK indie pop darlings London Grammar, and US veteran alt-rockers Spoon.
The bill is rounded out by pioneer singer and rapper Nehneh Cherry, who’ll be touring her first solo album in 17 years, the downtempo stylings of Chet Faker, Glasgow post-rock mainstays Mogwai, who will share an epic double-bill with Dinosaur Jr frontman J Mascis, and Tuareg guitarist and singer Bombino.
